Beatrix is coming!!

Beatrix – Book 3 of Shackleford and Daughters is officially coming on 29th October and the Kindle version is now available for pre-order….

Those of you who’ve followed me for some time might well be breathing a sigh of relief after being forced to wait so long to find out when the book is actually coming. But, as you all know, having learned the hard way that things can go spectacularly wrong when you announce books too early, I'm being more cautious this time! 😬

So, what happens in Beatrix?

Well, I don’t want to give too much away, because half the fun of the Shackleford stories is discovering what's going on as you read the story. And since I’m a pantser, it’s the same for me as I’m writing it... 😂

But, I can tell you that we're picking things up just ten days after the rather shocking events in Casa-del-Mar, and the situation at Cliff House is certainly not what you might call peaceful.

Muriel Pemberton has disappeared with the Pembroke files, Benedict Hartley hasn't been seen since that fateful evening and, rather inconveniently, Jacob White is still at large.

And then Robert Noon arrives from Australia.

If you've read the Shackleford Legacies, you may remember that Finn Noon has been part of the Shackleford family mythology for quite some time. Robert is Finn's son and, as you might imagine, his arrival is not entirely without consequences.

Especially for Beatrix.

You see, Bea has always considered romance to be a vastly overrated business best left to her sisters.

Which is all very well until a tall, sun-bronzed Australian arrives and starts making a complete nuisance of himself by being rather difficult to ignore.

But there's much more going on than romance…

The investigation surrounding Jacob White is becoming increasingly dangerous, Benedict is facing an impossible choice and the Shacklefords are about to discover that the threat they've been dealing with reaches considerably further than Torbay.

And, as usual, they have managed to get themselves involved in rather more than they bargained for…

And that’s all I’m going to say for now. 😉

I’ll be spending the rest of the summer and early autumn finishing and editing the story. Hopefully we’ll manage to get away for a break at some point once everything has come together. I’m determined to leave the fretting until after its released, because, as you veteran Shackleford fans know, I'm really good at that bit...😂  I spend months writing the story and then, once it's finally released, I become a complete nightmare to live with while I wait to see what everyone thinks. Poor Rob has to put up with an awful lot of pacing, worrying and asking whether anyone has reviewed it yet. 😬

The funny thing is, no matter how many books I write, I don't seem to get any better at this bit.

You'd think I'd have learned by now.

Apparently not.

The truth is, though, that it's you—the readers—who make all the hard work worthwhile. Every message, every review and every time someone tells me they've laughed, cried or stayed up far too late because they couldn't put one of the books down gives me the incentive to carry on.

And there are quite a few more Shacklefords still waiting to have their stories told...

So, 29th October it is!

If you've already read The Shackleford Sisters, The Shackleford Legacies and the first two books of Shackleford and Daughters, I hope you're as excited about Beatrix as I am.

And if you're new to the Shackleford family, well... you've got quite a lot of catching up to do! 😂

Much love,

Bev xx
